Government of Canada Standard on Web Accessibility

The Government of Canada Standard on Web Accessibility came into effect on August 1, 2011 and encompasses the accessibility standards to which federal websites must comply. These standards were previously defined under the Government of Canada Common Look and Feel 2.0 Standards for the Internet.

The standard relies on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) guidelines developed by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It identifies that websites must meet WCAG 2.0 AA compliance level.
