The FatPassport.com website offers its visitors the ability to search for destinations, attractions and tour operators and read reviews that are tailored to their specific needs and interests. The website uses complex algorithms to calculate a score for each destination based on reviews that have been added to the website by other visitors and prequalified "travel expert" contributors. This approach ensures that the user will not be forced to wade through many reviews that are not relevant to them. Additionally, the scoring of the destinations gives them an "at a glance" visual representation of the suitability of a destination to their needs - making their travel decisions efficient and enjoyable.

Client Feedback
N-VisionIT has now completed release 1.0 of a website development project, and overall I have been exceptionally pleased. They do excellent work, deliver on-time, and are very professional. Most important to me is that they feel like a business partner operating with my best interests in mind. There have been many changes throughout the project, and these have been handled seamlessly and effectively. I'm sure I could have got a lower initial quote from a developer in India, but I absolutely shudder to think of the enormous difficulties I would have had along the way trying to work with a cut-rate shop that did not have my best interests in mind. Highly recommended.
The client came to us with a well-defined vision for the project. Our experts worked them to firm-up the specifications for the project and gameplan that would serve as the basis for a successful website.
Our Role
N-VisionIT worked with the client to bring all aspects of the project to life. This included outlining the site navigational structure, building the underlying database, programming the scoring algorithms, creating an administrative facility, and all the functions that website users would interact with.
Interactive Solutions
Special consideration was taken to ensure the website was optimally configured for high-performance. Because of the amount of criteria visitors could use to search for destinations and the requirement for the scoring to be real-time, traditional performance-enhancing techniques such as caching could not be used. This meant that the functions that calculated scores and pulled relevant destinations had to be optimized as much as possible and a bare-minimum of database interactivity had to be used for all other aspects of each web-page to ensure acceptable page load times. In addition to optimizing the underlying programming, we made use of techniques from industry giants like Yahoo! and Google to also increase the "perceived" load time of the page so that an extra few milliseconds of scoring time in the background would still make for a fast browsing experience.
In order to compete with industry leaders in the travel recommendation market, significant effort was also spent on ensuring the website was optimized for search-engines.

The website has recently launched and its user-base is beginning to grow. We will be monitoring its success.
